Vanessa has helped our program to the 1st ever #1 ranking Division 3 in the state polls (maxpreps) #19th ranking in the country for all Divisions.
Vanessa has helped us defeat 3 top 10 state teams this season at the time was the following rankings (Copley #1 div 3, Pickerington North #8 Division 1, Medina #6 Division 1(lost to Walsh #1 Division 1 Vanessa had goal and assists we are the only team to have scored 2 goals vs Walsh this season.
Vanessa has had a goal and/or assist in every game this season. Vanessa has also played up to 6 different positions for our team.
Vanessa helped us this past week Beat Medina #6 in state their first loss and Highland HS 1st ever win vs Medina in school’s history. She is very deserving of this recognition.

January 2023 Athlete of the Month

Mackenzie’s nomination included the following: On a broken foot for the last 3.5 games she was able to play before it became too much pain to bear, Mackenzie scored the final 61 points she needed to become only the 5th girl in school history to surpass the 1,000 career points milestone.

Emily’s nomination included the following: Emily Yorkievitz finished 2nd in the 200 freestyle 1:55.67 and 5th in the 500 freestyle (both new school records) at the Jim Stacy Christmas Invitational. She also lead off the 200 free relay with a time of 24.80 also a personal best. She is straight A student and also won the Citizenship award at Nordonia High School for her volunteer hours working with kids with special needs and her volunteer position at the Akron Zoo as a Junior Interpreter.

Jack’s nomination included the following: Jack was a constant contributor earning team medalist honors in all our tournaments throughout the month of September while carrying a scoring average of 77. He earned 2nd Team All Suburban League honors all while maintaining high grades and earning the Scholar Athlete award. He shot back to back to back life lows to finish out the season while consistently improving throughout the season. All of this culminated in his final life low which led to his qualification as an individual for the District Tournament at Pine Hills.

Megan’s nomination included the following: Megan has had a great Month of September. After placing 3rd at the Kenston Invitational at the end of August, She has put together a string of excellent races in September. She has compiled a 4th place finish at the Avon Lake Invitational, 2nd place at The Walsh Jesuit Pat Ritchie Invitational, 14th at the Boardman Spartan Invitational, dual meet wins against Kent Roosevelt and Copley, and has run her best time of the season of 19:19 at The Strongsville Invitational. She is also a captain of our team and was a recipient of Spectrum Sports Scholar Athlete Award/Scholarship earlier this month. Megan is a tremendous scholar athlete and leader for Revere.

Paige’s nomination included the following: Paige scored for the Hornets in all five events in September with an average of 77.6 strokes and 33.4 putts. She saved her best round for last when she shot an even par (71) at the Suburban League #4 tournament at Brookledge GC. This vaulted her to the top of the first team all American Conference. Her average score over course rating was a mere 4.85 strokes. Paige is the consummate team player. She goes out of her way to support and encourage her teammates even when she is not having her best day. Her work ethic is next to none and we can always count on Paige to help us coaches promote new methods and techniques.

Christina’s nomination included the following: Christina shot 73 tied for medalist of the National Division at the 3rd Suburban League Tournament at Fox Den on September 10th and was second at the 4th Suburban League Tournament at Brookledge on September 28th with a 75. She also had a cumulative average of 36.75 for our 9-hole matches in September.

Kailey’s nomination included the following: Attacking midfielder (senior). Kailey is team captain and a leader on and off the field, in and out of the classroom. She supplies the energy for our team and the plan. She is a creative and aggressive attacking player that creates multiple quality chances per game for herself and her teammates. She is also a very smart defender that rotates quickly and intelligently and shuts down many attacks before they get too far. She is incredible in aerial battles rarely losing. She has scored 8 goals this month with 4 assists against EXCELLENT competition. Extremely deserving.

Erica’s nomination included the following: Erica Liu is a junior. She won the first singles flight at the conference tournament on Saturday September 24. She defeated 3 opponents that day. In the final she defeated Claire Martens from Brecksville 0-6,7-5,7-6(3). It was a remarkable comeback victory after trailing 5-2 in the final and deciding set. This victory was instrumental in Hudson winning the conference tournament.

August 2022 Athlete of the Month

Kelsey’s nomination included the following: Kelsey has had a fantastic start to her Senior year of cross country! She placed 56th out of 380 runners at the OHSAA Preseason meet with a time of 20:47.7. She followed that up by meadaling with a 12th place finish (19:30.09) at the Riverside Kickoff Classic and a 10th place finish (20:04.00) at the Ashland Invitational.

Isabella’s nomination included the following: Played in (13) eighteen-hole matches/tournaments, was medalist in (8) of those Was medalist at the Sub League #1 tournament with a 72, co-medalist at the Sub League #2 tournament with a 76. Leads both conferences by (3) strokes (lowest conf. points 2.88) Her (18) hole average for those (13) matches/tournaments was 72.4, no nine-hole matches were played. The (72.4)/2 gives her a 36.2 nine-hole average. Isabella shot four rounds in the 60s, 69 69 68 63. The 63 tied her own all time Highland HS and Medina County record from 2021. It also set a women’s course record at Shawnee Hills and the Blue Devil Classic tournament record and led our team to a team record score of 295, our lowest team score of the year.

Julia’s nomination included the following: Julia has played extremely well in the first month of the season. She is the leader for the Player of the Year honor in the National Division of the Suburban League after being the medalists for both of the August tournaments. And for the second tournament, her score of 72 was actually the lowest score for the entire league. Julia also shot 73 in the Hoover Tournament on August 15th (second lowest score) and 76 at the Walsh Tournament on August 29th (third lowest score). Julia’s current 18-hole average for the season is 77.27.

Records for august are 3-0 in the league and 8-2 overall with only losses to Jackson and Hoover’s # 1 players. Jack’s nomination included the following: “Qualified for the OHSAA Division I Boys State Meet in the High Jump. First year track and field athlete as a Senior, Jack finished in a tie for 4th place with a jump of 6’0″ in the SL American Division Championship. He then tied for third with a PR leap of 6’2″ at the Brunswick district meet. Finally, Jack sored to new heights (another PR) with a jump of 6’5″ at the Findlay regional, placing him 4th and sending him to the OHSAA Championships!”

At the time of nomination, Sam had the following stats: Undefeated in 2nd singles in the Suburban League American division and 2nd singles SL Tournament Champion. Second place in doubles in the Division 1, Springside, Sectional. Overall 2022 season record 20-3.

Arnav’s nomination included the following: ” Sophomore Arnav Gopinath finished runner up in the Suburban League National Conference Tournament for first singles. He was voted all conference first team. Arnav also teamed up with JJ Campbell at the Sectionals Tournament and qualified for Districts in doubles. They were North Royalton’s first district qualifiers since 2008!”

Led our team in ground balls over that stretch with a total of 42, averaging six per game. Also led our team is caused turnovers in that stretch with a total of 21, averaging three per game. Played extremely well in our two Suburban league games, a close loss to Copley and in our senior night win over Revere.”

Jeanne’s nomination included the following: “Jeanne is a Senior captain for the Minutemen this year. She plays shortstop for us and is currently leading the team in RBIs with 14. She is batting a .533 with a .568 on base percentage. She has 10 singles, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 2 stolen bases in 8 games. Jeanne has a .902 fielding percentage. Jeanne is a natural leader and is a great example to her teammates everyday.”
